Music for flute, voice and piano
Zephyra trio is pleased to present a thoughtfully curated program that delves into the artistic environment surrounding Spanish composer Manuel de Falla during his years in Paris, in celebration of the 150th anniversary of his birth.
The program showcases music by De Falla, Isaac Albéniz, André Caplet, Philippe Gaubert, Jesús Gurudi, Maurice Ravel, Paul Taffanel, and Joaquín Turina. Each of these composers played a significant role in the vibrant Parisian music scene of the early twentieth century, reflecting the rich cross-cultural exchange and spirit of artistic innovation that defined the era.
Drawing inspiration from Falla’s Parisian experience, the concert places a special emphasis on his relationships with fellow Spanish composers Albéniz, Turina, and Guridi and the creative synergy fostered by his association with members of Les Apaches, an informal collective of intellectuals, artists, and musicians. United by a shared passion for avant-garde art, music, and painting, this group contributed greatly to the dynamic artistic landscape of pre–World War I Paris.
The program underscores the diversity and innovative spirit of the time, encompassing both original works and arrangements tailored for the trio of voice, flute, and piano. Through these pieces, the concert celebrates the enduring legacy and creative achievements of De Falla and his Parisian contemporaries.
